A Lazy Girl's Guide: How Often To Use Your Skin Care

When it comes to skincare routines, there are a lot - and we mean a lot - of possible steps out there. So many, in fact, that it's easy to get confused about exactly how, when, and how often to use certain skincare staples.
We like to keep things super simple here! We know you have busy lives and the last thing you need to think about is a crazy, long routine.
Here’s our guide to easy, flawless skin:
Things To Do Daily
Washing your face
At night, cleanse your face in order to wash away any excess oil, dirt, pollution and bacteria that have accumulated throughout the day. Some - or in a lot of cases, all - of these things are all over your face each day. But what about in the morning, when you first wake up? Depends! A gentle cleanse in the morning can be very beneficial for getting rid of sweat or grime, and giving your face a clean slate for all your morning skin care. But if your skin runs on the drier side, we recommend just splashing your face with water. If you have more oiler or combination skin, then cleanse in the morning to eliminate anything that can contribute to clogged pores.
Face serums and oils
All skin types and ages will benefit from antioxidants, hydration and nourishment. These products are essential for maintaining hydration levels, targeting skin concerns and protecting from external environments. Use a facial serum and facial oil that targets your skin concern, every day, twice a day and enjoy your soft, smooth, and soothed skin.
For intense hydration, use the Facial Hydration Serum.
To strengthen, use the Facial Collagen Serum.
To brighten and renew, use the Facial Brightening Vitamin-C Powder.
Is a facial oil a necessity? In short, yes - especially if you tend to have oily skin. Why? When skin lacks moisture and the good nutrient-packed oils, it naturally overcompensates and produces even more oil, creating a vicious cycle of dried out skin and an oil imbalance. This is why, generally speaking, everyone should apply a non-comedogenic facial oil like the Facial Beauty Elixir onto clean skin.
SPF
Hopefully this will come as no surprise, but sun protection is an every single day, all year round essential. Even on the days you’re not really going anywhere. You should always be finishing your morning skin care with a generous application of SPF.
Things To Do Weekly
Exfoliate
Exfoliation is key for happy skin because it gives your pores a real good clear out, gets rid of dead skin cells, and results in overall radiance. But that doesn’t mean you need to be doing it everyday. Using an exfoliant two-three times a week is plenty to keep your skin healthy. It’s tempting to use more often but using them too frequently will result in over-exfoliation and an irritated skin barrier.
Use a Clay Mask
Clay masks are enormously beneficial for detoxifying and purifying your skin. Using the Deep Clean Facial Mask once a week can help go deep into pores, draw out impurities, and balance excess oil. If your skin’s on a particularly oily side, your skin will benefit from a clay clear-out twice a week.
Wash your pillowcases
Sweat, dirt and bacteria are known to build up on pillowcases so it’s best to wash at least once a week at least. (Same goes for your makeup brushes, and towels, and anything else you regularly put on your face.) Your skin will thank you later!
Things To Do Monthly
At-home spa experience
Give yourself and your skin a little treat each month with an at-home spa day to give your body and skin a little boost. Give yourself an oil massage using the Nourishing Body Remedy, take a bath, read a book, light a candle, put on your favourite music - do you!
Check expiry dates
When was the last time you checked the expiry dates on your beauty products? (If you don’t know it’s been too long.) This is a very easy one to forget about, but setting a reminder in your phone to check in once every month or so is a good way to keep on top of it, and make sure everything on your shelf is fresh and good to go.
