MATURE SKIN TYPE

WHAT‘S THAT?

Hello, you incredibly wise woman! With your gained life experience and beautiful memories, comes changing skin.

CAUSES

As we age, our skin begins to lose its elasticity, becomes more fragile and appears thinner and drier. We may experience skin dehydration, fine lines, age spots and broken blood vessels (often caused by sun damage). But luckily, you can develop a show-stopping skin routine to make you feel fresh, healthy and the best version of YOURSELF

CARE

As your skin changes, so should your skin care routine. Ideally it‘s better to adopt a skincare routine earlier, rather than later. Replenish your skin with ingredients that hydrate, nourish and restore the skin’s moisture levels are key.

Keeping your skin hydrated will not only mean a healthier appearance but a stronger skin barrier. We want to nourish our skin with ingredients that our body no longer produces.

In our early days, our body naturally produces collagen and hyaluronic acid - these naturally-occurring substances serve as a skin hydrator, strengthener and builder. Unfortunately, as we age, our body’s own natural collagen and hyaluronic acid diminishes resulting in fine lines, hyperpigmentation and a loss of firmness. So look for skincare ingredients like hyaluronic acid, collagen and vitamin-C to keep skin elastic, firm and supple.

Layer products from thinnest to thickest consistency to balance skin’s moisture level through the use of mists, serums and oils to cocoon your skin with these beneficial ingredients.

Most importantly - the MERME Facial Collagen Serum imitates the effect of our body‘s natural collagen production, making your skin look firmer, plumper and supple. It not only increases the concentration of collagen in your skin, it also helps your body to stimulate its own collagen production. Lock in the serums benefits with a high quality facial oil to protect your skin and makeup for the oil your skin is not naturally producing.

Make sure to also avoid any sulfates, harsh soaps or artificial perfumes, which can strip and upset your skin’s natural balance and will likely dry out your skin.

1

Oil Cleanser

Assess your skin in the morning - does it feel congested or last night’s make up still lingering? Use an oil cleanser. Or skip a morning cleanse and simply wash your face with clean water in the morning. There is no need to cleanse at this time as your skin should still be relatively clean from your evening cleanse the night before.

2

Facial Mist

Next, boost your hydration levels and tone your skin with a very soothing spritz such as the Facial Antioxidant Mist to help lubricate the skin and enable your following products to penetrate deeper into the epidermis.

3

Serum

Now is time for the active ingredients. Apply the Facial Collagen Serum to give a punch of collagen (the protein responsible for skin elasticity and fullness). Then follow with a hydrating serum such as the Facial Hydration Serum to restore and plump out fine lines. This Serum is made of pure Hyaluronic Acid, which acts as a magnet for moisture to the cells so that your skin looks hydrated, plump and healthy.

4

Facial Oil

Finish with a few drops of your favourite facial oil such as the Facial Beauty Elixir for much needed moisture and to protect your skin from environmental pollutants. Use SPF daily to protect your skin from the further drying effect of UV radiation.

MORNING ROUTINE

EVENING ROUTINE

Oil Cleanser

At the end of the day, wash your face with an oil cleanser as the Nourishing Body Remedy. You should never feel “squeaky clean” after cleansing, so avoid any foams, soaps or harsh ointments.

1

Facial Mist

Like in the morning, tone your skin with a very hydrating organic Facial Antioxidant Mist or Facial Calming Mist to help your following products absorb better into the skin. Antioxidants are basically a bodyguard for your face which neutralise free radicals and stop them from running riot causing blemishes and pigmentation.

2

Serum

Next, apply serums which contain the most active, skin-benefiting ingredients. Along with the Facial Hydration Serum, the Facial Collagen Serum will help with the negative effects of having maturing skin. Collagen is an important ingredient as it is the natural structural protein that is the ‘building blocks' of your skin, so promotes skin strength, firmness, and plumpness.

3

Facial Oil

Lastly, layer a rich facial oil such as the Facial Beauty Elixir or the Facial Healing Elixir to lock in the benefits. These are ideal for maturing skin as the best ingredients are rosehip oil and tamanu oil for intense moisture retention. Incorporating an eye oil such as the Advanced Eye Therapy will help with pesky fine lines in the delicate eye area.

EVERY SO OFTEN

Exfoliate once or twice a week to eliminate any dull, dehydrated surface skin cells, but be sure not to over-exfoliate with harsh granular products as that will end up drying our skin even more.

Try using a chemical or acidic formula like our Facial Brightening Powder which is pure L-Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin-C). Vitamin-C helps to encourage cell renewal and in turn, enhance skin‘s barrier function and reduce damage of free radicals. It’s a perfect treatment for maturing skin types.

To help minimise any enlarged pores in your T-Zone, try using the Facial Pore-Refining Powder 2-3 times a week, paying predominant attention to the forehead, nose and chin. This powerful skin-renewing ingredient visibly minimises and tightens enlarged pores, while strengthening your skin’s natural surface to improve skin texture and smoothness. It even prevents loss of moisture/water and protects from pollutants and irritants, making it particularly gentle enough for even dry, mature and sensitive skin types.

EVERY TIME,
AS NEEDED

Keep a facial mist in your handbag for instant hydration and to top-up moisture levels on the go!

TIPS

Make sure to apply SPF daily and use other forms of sun protection: too much UV radiation makes your skin age prematurely.

Incorporate oil-rich skin care into your routine to replenish what your skin’s not naturally producing. Massage these oils into your skin to leave your skin feeling well pampered and more relaxed.

Although those laughter lines are beautiful, start to give special attention to your undereye area and start to incorporate eye care.

Regularly exfoliate to clear away those dry, flaky skin cells. But not too often as it is important for your skin to produce its own oil.
