From a farm in Australia to Berlin – The story behind MERME
Some startup stories begin in large laboratories or at desks in corporate headquarters. This one begins on a sunny cattle station in northern New South Wales, Australia.
It is the place where tea tree oil and eucalyptus oil originate and where aloe vera grows in abundance.
Mary lived there – a woman who made everything herself, knew every plant in her garden, and knew exactly what power it possessed for nutrition or for healing injuries.
She was a pioneer of minimalist skincare, long before I even understood why I loved the concept so much. My grandmother was nicknamed Merme, and inspired by her philosophy of life, I named MERME Berlin after her.
FROM PASSION TO PROFESSION
Their passion and independence shaped me, and after my studies at the Australian College of Natural Beauty, I realized that this industry could be just right for me.
When I moved to Berlin in 2014, I couldn't find my beloved rosehip oil anywhere. So I took that as a sign – and MERME Berlin was born. What began with a single facial oil is now a minimalist skincare line that has made it its mission to combine maximum effectiveness with optimal skin compatibility.
